Could a Neuroscientist Understand a Microprocessor?(2017)

This article discusses the limitations of using data analysis methods from neuroscience to understand a microprocessor, a complex computational system. The authors argue that the current approaches in neuroscience may fall short of producing meaningful understanding of the brain, regardless of the amount of data, and propose using complex non-linear dynamical systems with known ground truth as a validation platform for time-series and structure discovery methods.
