This article discusses the history of the MUMPS programming language, specifically the first standardization of the language, which was done by the MUMPS Development Committee (MDC) in 1975, and published as NBS Handbook 118 in 1976, before being ratified as an American National Standard (ANSI X11.1-1977) in 1977.
