This paper presents a classification and comparison framework for Software Architecture Description Languages (ADLs), which are used to model and analyze software architectures. The framework defines the essential features of an ADL, including the explicit modeling of components, connectors, and configurations, as well as tool support for architecture-based development and evolution.
