SpudCell: The first synthetic cell with a complete cell cycle

Researchers at the University of Minnesota have created a synthetic cell called SpudCell, which can grow, replicate, and divide using a complete cell cycle, demonstrating that many core processes of life can be reconstituted from fully specified, individually purified components.
